Cheap Protein NZ
This product is a value protein powder made from New Zealand milk protein. Milk protein naturally contains both whey and casein.
At the moment whey is very expensive and this product has been made to try to offer a cheaper alternative to our flagship New Zealand Whey.
Our NZ Whey is better nutritionally, but this product is decent and it's cheaper. It tastes and mixes alright.

I have been using the normal NZ Whey for years but obv with the high prices I thought I'd try the Value option. It's actually pretty decent tasting. It has a slightly more cornflour type texture and you def need to add more water but for the price it's a great alternative. I use it in my overnight oats and also mixed in with greek yoghurt. It is a bit fluffier and if you don't add extra liquid it is very thick but I just added more water and it's fine. I only tried the vanilla.
The chocolate flavor is quite bad sadly. I’ve bought the value/cheaper wheys in the past, and they were really great, but this one almost seems like there’s something wrong with it, maybe not enough flavoring? I tastes and smells weird and won’t mix properly. I wouldn’t mind if I didn’t buy 5kgs worth 🥲

Sorry got this because it was cheap not nice to drink tastes really powdery even mixed in a smoothie will be going back to normal protien from you guys ASAP maybe ok if ya budget tight but even one scoop not the recommended two scoops is not good
For a budget friendly protein powder, this one does the trick.
There were several negative comments about it tasting like chalk-but I found that with the right amount of water it's actually very creamy.
I also add some vanilla essence, as I don't like sweeteners and it tastes just fine.

The value Double Choc is rubbish. I bought it many times before but something has changed.
2 scoops and 450ml of water in a tumbler basically turns to thick jelly after a good shake. You have to add at least 600ml of water before it’s barely drinkable and then still, it’s a thick sludge.

Tastes great does the job
The best protein powder I ever had. It’s highly heat stable ! You can have it in your morning coffee and get 20 g of protein just like that !!!
And its milk protein Concentrate so just taste exactly like Milk. You don’t have to worry about the after the unflavoured one just hits like Milk
Incase if you run out of Milk at home. You could just use two scoops of protein powder with some cold water to blend it and some espresso. You got a coffee done. Enjoy hot or cold !!! I brought ten chocolate. Love it. Ten scoops a day alongside regular whey and meat. Slow absorbtion over 7 hours, perfect for muscle repair while sleeping. Stay fuller longer.
Horribly thick when mixing with standard amount of Almond milk or even water. I usually use my protein powder in my overnight oats, but using this turns the mix in to a thick sludge. Not easy to use. Tried making oat pancakes and this went horribly wrong, as it became almost solid.
Would not recommend even for the price. NZPROTEIN REPLY: add more water, the standard amount is not enough. Then it'll be fine

Excellent consistency for thickshakes. My new favourite powder. Can't wait until a banana flavour come out.

Formula changed from a few months back. It’s much whiter than the previous stuff & doesn’t taste as good.
Extremely disappointed. We tried the value range because the other whey product (which is absolutely amazing and highly recommend) has become unaffordable/unsustainable with huge price increase recently. The product feels and looks like corn flour, very different consistency. Mixed with yoghurt it is dough like not like yoghurt at all.
Mixed with water or milk it turns thicker than gravy and leaves behind a cornflour feel and does not taste as good as the other whey product. If our financial situation changes we will go back to your other whey product, however for the time being we have to leave nz protein as this product is not up to standard at all.

Tried it watered down alot. As suggested. Too much filler and fluff. No real sustenance. Wont purchase again.

I bought the chocolate flavour. I can barely taste the chocolate. It mixes too thick to be used on its own in shakes unless heavily diluted. It's more like a tasteless pudding. I won't buy this product again.
This is definitely good value. I add it to smoothies or to make the flavoured powders less intense. Doesn't fill me up too much so I can't eat any other food!!
I use this as for my protein baking and its great, I think the presence of casein makes the baking texture better than the whey. However I get the more expensive whey for shakes because the flavour options are elite. This isn't on par for shakes, but its the cheapest on the market by miles
Great value, mixes very easy compared to just whey powders. Only gave a four weighting because of range of flavours other than that you can’t go wrong with this protein
I love the Whey but reluctantly tried this option to see if it was worth spending less. Yeah no - not worth it. It mixes to what honestly feels like glue, it’s so thick. 😭 I’m going back to Whey. NZPROTEIN REPLY: Simple fix - just gotta add more water! We'll email you.
Overall a pretty good whey, definitely cost effective, obviously a bit lower on the protein side than most mainstream consumer brands, but NZ protein definitely tastes better. Im trying vanilla for the first time and Id say the chocolate mixes better and tastes better on its own, but the vanilla is more flexible for smoothie flavors etc.
Really good value for money and great taste. We buy both this and the Whey and this is thicker than your Whey but gourmet vanilla flavour is nice!! Works well in overnight oats and smoothies but not great for whey drip or adding to yogurts or small liquid due to thick consistency. A Casein powder blend but macros are still very good and slow release is great too. Will definitely be buying again.

For "cheap" protein, grab yaself an "up and go". This wasn't palatable at all.
I'll keep using the whey isolate for now in smaller quantities and stop being lazy and up my meal preps. NZPROTEIN REPLY: you're not adding enough water!

Perfect on my Smoothie and Overnight Oats.
Very good value. Way thicker than the premium whey option, but easily solved by using more liquid (350ml seems to be good for me), i also use a blender to mix. Taste is decent. Happy with my purchase and will buy again in future. Thanks.
The price is fantastic, great value for money, and it tastes great too (vanilla). Works well mixed with cereal. Also, can't fault the service, my order was received really quickly. Will definitely be using again.
I'm a bit disappointed because so many people gave this great reviews. The chocolate flavour is very weak, and the consistency is very thick. I wouldn't recommend this if you were using it on its own in a shake.
Great price (value protein) compared to what others offer and 1 day delivery. Only downside is that it contains lot of sugar per serving even on "unsweetened unit"
In this economy, the value for money is hard to beat! Couple points to raise. This version is a bit more foamy than the regular Whey. At the time, I purchased the Double Chocolate, and while it smells amazing (similar to Dutch coco-powder), the flavour is a bit on the weak side, so I would suggest adding less water / milk. Otherwise great compromise, light feel and easy to drink.

I was pleasantly surprised after reading that the Value protein is different to the Whey. But as my money doesn't grow on a tree I decided to try it. So glad I did. Very happy with this product. It is different but since I use it only in only one or two things, like porridge for example, it's fine
Good price, but labelling is not up to scratch. It's not very clear what type of protein(s) and how much of each is contain, but it is inferred it is casein on the website.
Would prefer there was more clear info both on packaging and website.

A difference is this makes a more viscous (thicker) drink. Goes well with smoothies. Can also be used as an additive in some savoury foods.

Awesome product the Value Protein great taste and fast shipping but sucked that it sold out so fast when we went to re order.
I bought this Protein Powder because it is less costly than the Whey Powder that has been my normal purchase for years. I have it with my yoghurt and berries every morning, it mixes in nice and smooth with no lumps, tastes okay. Shall no doubt keep buying this one.
Really reate this protein powder, my teens like it in smoothies and overnight oats/weetbix. I love it with yogurt & chiaseed pudding or protein balls, its been a fabulous transition from our old protein powder. Good price too.

Taste good. Mixes pretty well definitely keeps me full. Bakes well. Sweet vanilla flavour. No complaints here.

Value Protein is a cheaper alternative to whey. Seems like a good product for the budget conscious with much the same benefit as whey, but slower digesting. It does fill you up a bit more than whey, so bear that in mind.
The vanilla flavour is soo good.

Gave this one (vanilla) 4 stars because you cant beat the price. But it mixes very thick in milk and is a little grainy and very foamy. Also quite sweet.

The chocolate value whey was better
This is the vanilla flavour, from the ‘value’ whey protein range, it is great, mix’s well in my shaker and tastes great.
Look it's definitely a downgrade from there regular product, whether that's an acceptable tradeoff for you and the lower price is your call. The flavour is pretty good, it just gets quite thick and requires extra water to thin it out.

NZ Protein used to sell a great value whey protein in chocolate flavour that was my go to. I tried this one since it no longer appears to be in stock.
It doesnt mix as well, and to me it doesnt taste as good. But still great value. Id love if they could bring back the old chocolate value whey.

Tastes good and mixes easily. No weird aftertaste, if you struggle with pea or whey I would definitely try this.

Tastes like very sweet milk (go figure). Thick and foamy, mixes completely in a few shakes, and affordable as. Probably a 6 or 7 out of 10 when it comes to taste. I'm surprised to be the first review for how seemingly good this is.
